Dee's Second Chance Times Two (Siren Publishing Ménage Everlasting) Read online

Page 2

Before she got comfortable, Dee fielded “hellos” and “how are yous” from some of the people she knew in town. Mable and Sam sat in their usual corner booth arguing over the same things they always disagreed over. April was trying not to stare at her new boyfriend as he talked about ball practice, and Leah tried to keep her two wild boys from bothering everyone else.

Dee noticed Gideon Snow, a distant relative of hers who she knew to be filthy rich. She remembered that she’d referred him to Amos and Andy when he’d approached her about his taxes. She hadn’t spoken to him since and briefly wondered if he’d ever contacted them.

Dee shook her head, wishing she could separate her thoughts from the two men for just a few minutes. Why did everything have to eventually lead back to them?

She’d just spread her purple napkin over her lap when two people sat on either side of her at the counter. She didn’t have to look to know who it was. Even without their unique scent of Applewood whiskey paired with old oiled leather, Dee would have known it was them just by the way her body reacted to their presence.

If someone had told her five or even three years ago that one day she’d meet someone who could make her panties wet just by being in the same room with her, she’d have laughed them out of their chair. No one could have that sort of visceral, intimate effect on another human being. It just wasn’t possible. But no, she’d been wrong. The first time she’d seen them when they’d moved back into town, Dee’s panties grew soaked with her pussy juices before she’d had time to process just who they were. Yeah, just like that.

Now, as she attempted to school her expression once again, Dee had to fight the urge to cross her legs and squeeze to relieve some of the pressure their presence near her always caused.

While Dee knew everyone in town was well aware of the abrupt end of their courtship the year before, she was fairly sure they didn’t know just how far she’d fallen for them or how deeply invested her heart had been in that relationship. She preferred to keep it that way, too.

“This is it, baby girl. No more running. We’re going to pick you up Friday night and have a long talk,” Andy said in a soft whisper next to her ear.

“And we aren’t taking no for an answer anymore,” Amos added in her other ear.

“There’s no use trying to pretend you don’t want us ’cause we can see it in your eyes when you think we aren’t looking. If I slipped my hand under that sassy skirt of yours and tested that sweet pussy right now, I can guarantee it would be wet, too. Don’t bother denying it either. I’ll just prove you wrong—right here, right now.” Andy sat back and looked into her eyes as he waited for her answer.

  Chapter Two

Andy watched their woman squirm, open then close her mouth, and squirm again. He couldn’t help but smile at how uncomfortable she was now that he’d called her on the lie she insisted on spouting that they didn’t do a thing for her anymore. Hell, it was only fair. She kept them so hard they probably spent just as much time jacking off in their office bathroom than they did actually working these days. It was ridiculous when she was in the same frustrated state.

God, they’d screwed up. Part of it had been her fault, but then if he were honest, that wasn’t entirely true either. He and his brother had known that despite her age, Dee was essentially naïve to how men and women related and reacted with each other. They’d gotten their pride stung and chosen to ignore what they knew deep down inside to be true. They’d told themselves that since they weren’t engaged to her that it was fine to date someone else.

I can’t believe we were such asses. I knew better and should have said something to Amos, but I let my ego do the reasoning with my dick instead of my brain.

He put a stop to that line of thinking. It wasn’t going to do any good to go over it again now. They’d both beaten themselves up over it on an almost daily basis for nearly a year. They’d hash through it one last time when they had Dee sitting between them in their home. Then it would never be mentioned again.

I can only hope that’s the way it goes. She deserves better than us, but dammit, I can’t let her go, and I know Amos won’t.

“I—I already have plans for Friday night.” Her shaky voice would have been cute if not for the seriousness of the situation.

Amos beat him to answering her. “Cancel them. This is more important than anything you might already have planned, Dee.”

“Really, there’s nothing more to say, Amos. I don’t understand why you’re still bothering me. I’m not the one who cheated,” she whispered back.

“Dee, just give us the chance to talk through it. Yes, we cheated, but there’s more to it than that. Please, baby. Just let us have our say. That’s all we’re asking,” he said before Amos could screw things up.

He loved his twin brother, but sometimes the idiot spoke before he thought through what was going to come out of his mouth. They needed to be careful until they’d resolved the problem with Dee.

He watched as she nibbled on her full lower lip. It was one of the little things that was so endearing about her. He watched the way her light-blue eyes clouded as she thought about what they were asking. He longed to pull her strawberry blond hair from the ponytail she wore to keep it out of her eyes when she was working. At least it was better than the tight bun she’d worn it in for years.

The slightly flared skirt didn’t hide her soft curves and the frilly blouse only accentuated her plush breasts and the ample cleavage he knew was hidden between the ruffles. He longed to brush his hands along her cheeks with their fair skin that blushed so prettily at the least compliment.

At only five feet, four inches, Dee’s soft figure was perfect to them. They’d never gone for slender, willowy women and couldn’t see what the draw was for other men. He enjoyed hugging Dee and knowing she didn’t starve herself or obsess over everything she put in her mouth. She was healthy and took care of herself. That was all that mattered to him and his brother.

“I don’t understand what more there is to talk about.” Dee looked from him to Andy. “There’s no excuse that makes cheating okay in my book. If you cheat once when we are seeing each other, then you’ll end up cheating again. I can’t go through that even one more time, guys. I’m sorry.”

“Dee Dee. We aren’t trying to excuse what we did. We know we screwed up, but we need to talk to you and tell you everything that happened and how we were feeling. We want another chance and the only way that will ever happen is if you understand what we were thinking.” Andy sighed. “We really want another chance with you, honey. You mean everything to us.”

Amos could tell that she was wearing down. Her eyes held unshed tears that nearly tore him up inside, but whatever it took to persuade her to listen was okay with him. He would make it all up to her later.

“If I meet with you Friday night, will you promise to leave me alone after that?” she finally asked.

“If after Friday night, you still don’t want anything to do with us, we’ll leave you alone,” Amos said before Andy could answer. He didn’t miss the angry glare his brother flashed over Dee’s head though.

Dee’s shoulders sagged and she nodded before speaking. “Okay. I’ll talk to you Friday night after work. I’ll walk over to your office after I close up.”

“We’ll pick you up, Dee Dee. No need for you to walk,” Andy told her.

“Why pick me up if we’re just going right back to your office to talk?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at his brother.

“We’re going to go out to eat first,” he said, causing her to turn her attention back to him.

“I didn’t agree to have a meal with you. That looks too much like a date, and I don’t want people to think we might be getting back together again. They’ll drive me crazy wanting to ask questions that I don’t want to answer,” she said.

“Not a problem,” Andy said, making her swing her head back around to his brother. “We won’t go anywhere in town to eat so people won’t see us. Will that work?”

&n
bsp; “I suppose.” She didn’t sound convinced though. No doubt she’d regret agreeing after having time to think about it over the week.

“Great. We’ll leave you to your lunch and talk to you later, Dee,” Andy said as he stood up.

Amos followed suit and stood up as well. Before he could stop himself, he bent over and kissed the tip of her nose. “Enjoy your lunch, baby girl.”

At the sight of her mouth dropping open and a spark of fire flare in her eyes, Amos grabbed his brother’s arm and all but dragged him away from the counter where Dee was sitting before she could say anything that would ruin their victory. For once it had been him to nearly screw things up.

“I can’t believe you kissed her like that.” His brother chortled once they were outside in the parking lot. “The always in-control and steady Amos gave into an impulse and nearly blew our chances at winning Dee back. I’m impressed.”

  “Screw you!”

  * * * *

Dee quickly ordered a grilled chicken salad and tried to calm her racing heart while she waited on it. Why hadn’t she seen them when she’d first walked in? They had to have already been inside or she would have noticed them in the parking lot, right? Then again, she hadn’t really been paying all that much attention.

Normally she had a sixth sense where they were concerned. The second they were anywhere close by, her heart started racing and she knew without even looking. Why had her normally accurate protective instincts worked this time?

I love them and even knowing that they cheated on me, if I’m not careful, I’ll let them talk me into giving them another chance. I survived the pain this time, but I don’t think I could bear it if they hurt me like that again.

Deep down in her soul, Dee wanted to give them another chance, but pride and fear had kept her from allowing them to tempt her for nearly a year now. If they didn’t actively pursue her, would she finally be able to forget them and move on? Probably not, but setting herself up for another fall seemed inevitable. Her willpower had petered out after only about five months of misery.

The short but extremely close friendship they’d had back in high school the year before the twins had gone off to college had been what dreams were made of for a young impressionable sixteen year old. While she knew they weren’t actually dating each other and there was very little physical interaction, they’d flirted outrageously with her. Still, when they’d left, there’d been no real hard feelings since she’d never seen it as a romantic relationship. Yes, she’d had a schoolgirl crush and it had felt as if her heart was breaking, but she’d known it wasn’t really serious. It had been innocent flirtation between friends.

As adults, the innocent flirtation had quickly escalated into serious dating not long after they’d returned to town. Though they’d never consummated the relationship in the Biblical sense, she’d been as deep into them as she could get without doing the deed. It had been all about romance then, and so the cheating had counted for her and in a big way. They’d been nothing like the young men she’d known back then. A lot had changed in all that time.

The Ahfield twins had been gawky nerds all during grade school and up into the first few years of high school as well. Then something happened during the summer before their junior year and suddenly they weren’t so gangly and geeky anymore. In fact, they’d filled out into buff man candy according to the teenage girls that year.

While Andy was the quieter of the two, he was also the most handsome in a classical sense with smooth features that almost made him look pretty instead of masculine. His long dark lashes set off the deep rich blue of his eyes that somehow looked out of place for someone as dark complected as he and his brother were. His short black hair that had just a hint of wave to it fit his less boisterous image to a tee. At six feet, two inches, his athletic build held just a hint of softness that tended to appear around his age.

Though the brothers were physically identical for the most part, their personalities weren’t. Where Andy leaned toward a more businesslike lifestyle that might even be called calculated or structured, his brother Amos was all about relaxation and enjoying every second to the fullest. He had the same deep-blue eyes as his brother but there was a slightly brighter twinkle in them. His short black hair with the slight wave always looked just a bit more tousled, making Dee want to smooth it down when she saw him. Even now her hand itched to set the wayward strands right.

Dee had always been able to tell them apart even before knowing about the tiny scar on Andy’s left buttock from when Amos had gotten mad at him for refusing to play Cowboys and Indians. Amos shot him with his toy bow and arrow—after he’d pulled off the suction cup from the end and whittled the tip into a thankfully blunted point. She also knew about the small tattoos the two men had on their lower pelvis. Andy’s was on the left and Amos’s was on the right side. She had no idea what they were or what they stood for, but their intricate scroll work had been beautiful and almost haunting.

I still don’t understand why they wouldn’t tell me what it meant. For the tattoos to be where they were, she knew that it had to be important, but they wouldn’t share it with her.

Dee flushed that she knew those intimate facts about the two men. Sure, they’d been well on the way to doing the deed when things had blown up between them, but deep down inside she’d never planned to sleep with anyone before she was married.

It wasn’t that she was a prude, hey, two men and all. It was just that she thought that something that personal and special should only be shared between a husband or husbands and their wife. It was just her own values and not anything that had been drilled into her growing up. In fact, her parents hadn’t drilled much of anything into her other than excelling in her education and broadening her experiences in life.

The twins were completely comfortable in their nudity and proud of their… assets to say the least. She’d never seen a man’s cock before them, much less two at one time, so she’d had nothing to compare them to. Looking back, Dee wondered if she hadn’t embellished their sizes some since she’d been so shocked at the time. Though she hadn’t indulged in sex with anyone else in the last year, there had been some of heavy petting with a couple of long-term relationships. No one had ever compared to their size.

I swear if they don’t stop bothering me after this I’m going to move. They’re the ones who betrayed me, not the other way around. I’m perfectly within my rights to refuse to forgive them and give them another chance.

The truth was, Dee had already forgiven them, but the pain was too deep to just forget and try to return to their previous relationship. She’d crushed hard over them back in high school, but they’d been ready for more when she’d been much more naïve, and being a year older than Dee, they had recognized that as well. Dee made sure to attend a different college when she graduated early the summer before what would have been her senior year.

It wasn’t until a little over two years ago when they’d returned to their hometown of Perry Flats, Texas, that the three of them had begun seeing each other again. But that was the past. Only hadn’t she just agreed to drag it all back out and talk about it once again? Why had she let them intimidate her into doing it? She was stronger than that.

Not when it comes to them. I’m a complete basket case around them. Those two could charm the panties off a nun, and I’m no nun.

No, she wasn’t, but she was determined. She’d listen to what they had to say and tell them it was all water under the bridge, but that she just wasn’t interested anymore. Maybe she did still like them a little more than was good for her, but she wasn’t willing to take it any farther. If a man cheats once, he’ll cheat again. That was a proven fact, and Dee had no intentions of allowing her experiences to add to the statistics.

Now if only she could convince her heart to listen to her brain and not her hormones. Too bad her panties being wet from her pussy juices would remind her the rest of the day why she didn’t have a chance in hell of sticking to her guns.

Chapter Three

“She’s just stalling, Amos,” Andy told his twin. “There’s no reason for her to work past four on a Friday afternoon.”

Amos shrugged and continued plugging away on the keyboard without looking up. Andy wanted to pop him on the back of the head for always looking and acting so relaxed as if he didn’t have a stake in the outcome of the evening with Dee. Behind his brother’s deceptively calm expression, deep down inside of him, Andy knew the man’s gut was churning with just as much worry as his was.

The differences between the two of them were all internal. Many times they’d talked about why, when everything else about them had been so perfectly identical, they had such different emotions and reactions to things. They’d only been able to come to one conclusion every time they’d discussed it. It was the soul that made the difference.

The two men had the same hearts and the same brains, but their souls weren’t a part of their physical bodies. They were spiritually given to them and not two parts of one whole. Those discussions along with the constant, unchanging conclusion made it clear to them that God was real. But times like these, those differences annoyed him to no end. If he as a mess trying to deal with waiting, his twin brother should be as well.

“Just because we don’t normally work past four on Fridays doesn’t mean everyone else closes shop at that time. Go back to your office if you’re going to keep pacing,” Amos told him.

“Fine. I won’t pace then.” He threw himself into one of the client chairs and slouched in it, crossing his legs at the ankles with his legs stretched out in front of him.

What was it exactly about Dee that had him so screwed up inside? She was beautiful in a classic, sweet way with her gorgeous blue eyes and voluptuous body. But they’d met lots of equally attractive women over the years before returning to Perry Flats and none of them had ever really blipped his radar.
