  “I’ll wrap the rest of them up for tomorrow for one of our breaks. Why don’t you call your friend and let her know where you’re going to be so someone will have an idea?” he asked as he gathered up the sandwiches.

  Nina slipped off the barstool and walked across the kitchen to where the living room opened into the eating area. His house plan was very open and comfortable. She wished hers was like this, but this house hadn’t been for sale when she’d needed one so desperately.   “Just wanted to let you know that I’m going on a bike trip with Jack from next door. We’ll be going through Forest and Flat Rock and be home Sunday night.”

  “I’ll talk to you when I get back. ’Night.” She hung up to Charlotte fussing at someone about cold hands.

  Chapter Five

  Nina stared at the opulent bathroom in the master suite. Hers was nothing like this. Noticing her surprise, Jack filled her in.

  “You will never have trouble selling this house. In fact, when you get ready to sell, ask me first,” she told him.

  He laughed. “I’ll do that.”

  “I’ll run the water and get it ready. You go ahead and undress. I’ll let you get in first and enjoy it for a while before I get in and bathe you.”
