  Ty returned and took Jeff’s place keeping Lucille company while Jeff moved to the kitchen to work on supper. He worried about Lucille having a slight concussion from the blow to her face. He wondered if they needed to wake her up every two hours or not. Come fall, she can help harvest, and then, when she works in the kitchen to put stuff away, one of us can help or work around the house while the other works the garden or in the barn.”

  “Good idea,” Jeff said.

  “What else is going on over there?” Lucille asked.

  “Not much. They’ve set up the nursery. She’s been making lots of baby clothes and blankets and stuff. I gave her the stuff you put together. She squealed a lot. Made my ears ring.”

  “The men were doing it before her. They’ll handle it this time, too,” Jeff said. “Don’t worry about them. They’ll do just fine.”

  “She’s my sister. I can’t help but worry about her,” Lucille said.

  “I know but try not to. How is your face feeling this morning?” Jeff asked.

  The three of them returned to the house for lunch, and then Ty returned to the garden while Jeff remained at the house to work around the barn and the hen house. There were plenty of chores that needed to be done that they often couldn’t get to. It meant that whoever worked in the garden had a lot to do by themselves, but it was safer for Lucille this way.

  “We’re going to share the work, hon. It will all work out. This way some of the chores that we’ve needed to get done around the house are getting done instead of going until it’s nearly too late to fix them. Stop worrying about it.   By the time Ty returned to the house late that evening, Lucille was exhausted from cleaning and cooking dinner. She was ready for bed. She was so tired she really didn’t even care for a bath.
