aid in a soft voice. “He could have done all of that through many different ways that didn’t include hurting innocent people, but he chose to run a syndicate of drugs, prostitution, gambling, and weapons. He chose his fate, not the vampire. She merely let him have his way with the money and contacts he requested.”

  Kay let that sink in. She might be a little flaky at times when it came to looking nice and her obsession with her nails, but even she wasn’t that conceited or self-absorbed. Her mates were right. He deserved whatever he’d set himself up for. She had more important things to think about now. Namely, what to do with the club and how to help the women gain employment that would provide for their families.
